What is quality in business sustainability?

BI participated in a panel on private sustainability standards and trade at the National Quality Conclave on 20 August. The panel addressed many of the key issues in relation to recent growth of Voluntary Sustainability Standards and the accompanying challenges and opportunities for developing markets and SMEs in the global value chains.

Central to BI's presentation was how compliance with Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) can assist in developing quality and help provide access to global markets, but also generate growth and enhance company profitability.

The session 'Addressing Private Sustianability Standards: Enabling International Trade' was organised as part of the QCI 11th National Quality Conclave held on August 19 – 20, 2016 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi. BI's Managing Partner Johan Genneby presented together with Dr. Thomas Fues, Sr Researcher and HOD Training, German Development Institute, Ms Miho Shirotori, Chief, Global and Regional Trade, UNCTAD, and the session Chairs Sarita Nagpal, Principal Advisor, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Professor Abhijit Das, Head, Centre for WTO Studies, IIFT.
